Membership Information

The Waldo Mining District: Is headquartered in Cave Junction, Oregon, in the Illinois River Valley - the heart of SW Oregon's "Gold Country"… right in the middle of the Siskiyou National Forest. As Oregon's oldest mining district (established in 1852), the Waldo Mining District strives to educate its members about the ever changing laws, rules, and regulations governing mining today; and actively defends the rights of miners against those that would hinder or prohibit those rights granted under the U.S. Mining Laws.

Qualifications for Membership: Membership in the Waldo Mining District is open to Individuals and Families. You must be alive, and interested in Protecting, Preserving, and Promoting Mining & Prospecting. You do not have to live, mine, or own a mining claim in this area to be a member.

Advantages of Membership: Members of the Waldo Mining District receive a Membership Card, and will be sent the Waldo Newsletter, published approximately 10 times a year (available via snailmail or email). Meetings of the WMD are held 8-10 times per year (usually on the last Wednesday of the month). Members in good standing are entitled to vote on District decisions and issues, and may run for Office or positions on the Waldo Board of Trustees (elections held annually).

Members of the WMD enjoy the good feeling that they are actively doing something to help stop the crazy environmental over-regulation which has darned near destroyed mining in the Western United States!

How to Join: Just send us your Name & Address, phone (optional), and email address (optional), along with a check, cash, or money order for $15.00* (Annual Individual Membership) or $17.50* (Annual Family Membership). Please send to:

THANK YOU… WE LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING YOU AS A MEMBER!

*NOTE: We believe that only by organizing and banding together can the mining community survive in today's world. Annual dues for membership in the WMD are kept deliberately low to allow as many as possible to join and take up the fight. Your dues barely cover the cost of your Newsletter. The WMD relies on membership dues, fund-raising events, and the generous donations by its members and non-members alike to cover the costs of Protecting, Preserving, and Promoting Mining & Prospecting.
